PROGRAM NOTES:
You can’t plan for love. It will lurk in abandoned buildings (Cave Flower) or hide in the bushes (Roman Postcards). It will sneak in the kitchen door (The European Kid) and hide behind a bathrobe (Kaveri). And love will betray you (Cheat Neutral), and mislead you (Polvo). This program of romantic short films is all about how love is wily, weird and wonderful.
Rooftop Films is a great place for a date. If you’re looking for love at Rooftop, post a Rooftop Personal Ad, Missed Connection, or Romantic Message to newyork.craigslist.org with the words "Rooftop Films" in the subject header.
In the weeks leading up to the show, we'll be linking all the Rooftop Films personal ads to our website, so you can find who you're looking for, or send sweet thoughts to your date that night. At the show, we'll play the personals and display live text messages on screen—we'll help you find your mate!
If you find someone that night, we’ll give the two of you free tickets to another Rooftop show.
THE FILMS
Baby Cakes: Coffee Line (Brad Neely | Austin, TX | 4:00)

Cave Flower (Sam Fleischner | Brooklyn, NY | 19:00)
Between two caves - an abandoned building and a freight elevator - Cable finds inspiration in someone who appears to represent the very things that drove him into the margins of society.
Scoring (Ken Wardop | Ireland | 3:00)
Following an accident, a young man has been left with no sensation from his shoulder blades down, and now expresses his sensuality through a kiss. Another delicate and lovely film from Rooftop alum Ken Wardrop.
The European Kid (Ian Martin | Elmhurst, IL | 22:00)
One night, the European kid turns up unexpectedly and wrecks havoc on all the relationships in the house.
INTERMISSION
Polvo (Dust) (Ylva Forner | Spain | 12:45)
A young woman about to get married works cleaning houses for elderly people. One day an old man offers to pay her a large amount of money if she just undresses and sits in a chair over by the window for him. Neither of the two knows what the other gains from the deal, but the audience gets the full picture. A story about memories and missing someone long gone.
Kaveri (Buddy) (Teemu Nikki | Finland | 7:10)
Two middle aged pals who want to experiment a little bit.
Cheat Neutral (Beth Stratford | England | 8:00)
When you cheat on your partner you add to the heartbreak, pain and jealousy in the atmosphere. Cheatneutral offsets your cheating by funding someone else to be faithful and NOT cheat. This neutralises the pain and unhappy emotion and leaves you with a clear conscience. www.cheatneutral.com
Roman Postcards (Silvia Gigliodoro | Italy | 21:00)
A low-key documentary about a park that lies in the shadow of the Vatican and is a common place for homosexual hook-ups.
